The Textile Sourcing Process: From Tech Pack to Shipment

A step-by-step breakdown of the textile sourcing process in Pakistan, illustrating how your ideas are transformed into market-ready products.

Understanding the intricacies of the textile sourcing process in Pakistan is vital for any apparel brand or homeware retailer looking to optimize their supply chain. A well-defined process minimizes delays, eliminates quality issues, and ensures a smooth transition from concept to container.

At Flextile, we have refined our sourcing process into a predictable, transparent timeline. Here is exactly what happens when you partner with a professional agency.

1. Initial Consultation and Tech Pack Review

Everything begins with your specifications. The buyer submits a "Tech Pack" (Technical Package) which includes design flats, measurements, fabric composition requirements, Pantone color codes, and packaging details. We review this to ensure manufacturing feasibility and select the perfect factory from our vetted network.

2. Lab Dips and Fabric Sourcing

Before full production or even complex sampling begins, we must get the colors right. We arrange for "Lab Dips" — small swatches of the actual fabric dyed to match your specified Pantone colors. These are sent to you for physical approval.

3. The Pre-Production Sample (PPS)

Once the fabric and colors are approved, the factory creates the Pre-Production Sample (PPS). This is the "golden standard." It is a complete, fully finished product made exactly as the bulk production will be made. Mass production never begins until you have signed off on the PPS.

4. Mass Production and Inline Inspections

With the PPS approved, raw materials are ordered in bulk and manufacturing begins. This is where a sourcing agency earns its keep. Our QA teams conduct inline inspections during the cutting and early stitching phases to catch any deviations from the PPS immediately.

5. Final AQL Inspection

Once the goods are 100% stitched and at least 80% packed, an independent QA auditor conducts a final random inspection using the internationally recognized AQL (Acceptable Quality Limit) standard.

6. Logistics and Export

Upon passing the final inspection, the goods are loaded into shipping containers. We handle the preparation of the Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, and essential trade certificates (like the EUR.1 for EU duty-free entry).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How long does textile sampling take?
Typically, lab dips take 7-10 days. Once lab dips are approved, a fully finished Pre-Production Sample (PPS) usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to develop and ship to your headquarters.

What is a Pre-Production Sample (PPS)?
A PPS is the final prototype created by the factory before mass production begins. It uses the exact bulk fabric, trims, and colors that will be used in the final order. It serves as the binding contract for quality and sizing.

Can I visit the factories during production?
Absolutely. Transparent sourcing agencies like Flextile welcome buyers to visit Faisalabad or Karachi. We happily arrange factory tours so you can see your production lines in action and verify the working conditions of our partner facilities firsthand.
